More →The CFTC changes its stance on Gemini, and the judge refuses to vacate the settlement agreement.
Coin World news: The CFTC changed its position on Gemini, but the judge refused to vacate the settlement agreement reached by both parties. Gemini has already paid $5 million, but the more important dispute lies in the ongoing injunction and court order. In a ruling on October 15, the judge upheld the January 2025 settlement agreement, and the CFTC believed that the original case should not have been filed. The CFTC filed a lawsuit against Gemini in 2022, alleging that it made false or misleading statements while reviewing Bitcoin futures contracts. Although the CFTC now believes that the lawsuit should not have been filed, this does not change the facts or the law of the original order.

On-chain analytics firm Chainalysis: scammers lost $4.8 million in Bitcoin due to tampered Ledger wallets.
According to news from Bijie, on-chain analytics firm Chainalysis has revealed that a scammer lost more than 60 bitcoins, worth approximately $4.8 million, due to a tampered Ledger hardware wallet. The theft has sparked some schadenfreude, as the victim turned out to be the scammer himself. Chainalysis disclosed the transactions from the theft on Twitter, stating that the bitcoins came from a task scam in which participants were paid for fake sales and reviews of real products until their accounts showed a "negative balance" and they were told they needed to add their own funds in order to get paid. The scammer moved the proceeds of the scam to three different Ledger addresses on September 22, and they were emptied by thieves on October 9. Ledger disclosed the incident on October 9 and said its security team discovered implants in devices sold through Southeast Asian distributor Cryptobilis that could read the 24-word mnemonic during setup and send it via LTE. Ledger has not yet confirmed the total number of affected users or the amount lost, and the investigation is still ongoing.
