According to Dune’s Digital Asset Brief, USDT settled about $95 billion in identified commerce payments in the first half of 2026 versus $14 billion for USDC, and captured roughly 92% of business-to-business payment volume. On Tron, where most USDT circulates, about 93% of supply sits in regular wallets, reinforcing its role in payments and remittances.
USDC, meanwhile, dominates decentralized finance. On Base, it processed around $2.6 trillion in transfer volume in June, with another $1.6 trillion on Ethereum, reflecting heavy use in trading and DeFi.
Together, USDT and USDC account for about 83% of the stablecoin market’s $315 billion capitalization. The report comes as US lawmakers debate the CLARITY Act following the 2025 GENIUS Act, which created the first federal framework for payment stablecoins.

European Union lawmakers on Tuesday adopted a position paper on digital assets, setting out their view on how the bloc should approach crypto regulation after the rollout of its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.
The paper calls on the European Commission to assess whether activities including decentralized finance, crypto lending and borrowing, staking and non-fungible tokens should be brought more clearly into the EU’s regulatory perimeter.
It also urges consistent application of MiCA across member states and warns against national rules that could fragment the bloc’s digital asset market.
