Google Wants Gemini to Be Your Next Coworker—Complete With Its Own Email Address

Google Cloud introduced a universal AI agent for the workplace on Thursday, one it says can take a goal, go off and do the work, and return with the finished result. CEO Thomas Kurian presented it at the company's <a href="https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/ai-machine-learning/welcome-to-gemini-at-work-2026" target="_blank" class="sc-adb616fe-0 dJryYS" rel="nofollow">Gemini at Work</a> event, saying that "work now starts in the prompt window." The product, simply called the Gemini Agent, works inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Chat and Calendar, and also reaches into Microsoft 365 and Slack. Google says it keeps running in the cloud after you close your laptop, so a single task can stretch across hours or days. The most interesting feature is what Google calls coworker agents. A manager describes a role, such as events coordinator, and Gemini creates an agent with its own Workspace account: an email address, a calendar, Drive storage and a listing in the company directory. This is similar to what other agentic frameworks have explored. For example Grok popularized it with Grok Bot, OpenAI did the same with GPT dots, and Hermes introduced its bots feature offering the same functionality. The new agent connects to Salesforce, ServiceNow, Jira, Snowflake, BigQuery and any server that speaks Model Context Protocol, an open standard that works like a universal plug between AI and software. It also runs on more than Google's own models: Gemini currently orchestrates across Gemini and Claude models from Anthropic, routing each job to the one Google considers the best fit for quality and cost. Letting software act on its own raises obvious safety questions, and Google's answer is to treat each agent like an employee. Every agent gets a cryptographically attested identity, a digital ID verified through cryptography, and every action lands in an audit trail attributed to the agent rather than a person. All agents run inside an Agent Sandbox, a walled-off environment meant to keep software away from the rest of a system, and all their traffic passes through Agent Gateway, which Google describes as an "AI network firewall." Containment has failed before: in July, researchers at Accomplish AI reported that the local mode of <a href="https://decrypt.co/374557/chatgpt-claude-ai-models-escaping-sandboxes-cowork" target="_blank" class="sc-adb616fe-0 dJryYS" rel="nofollow">Claude Cowork</a> could escape its Linux virtual machine on Macs and reach files on the host computer. Cost is the other worry, since agents burn through tokens, the chunks of text that AI models read and write and that customers are billed for. Google says nearly 500 of its customers each processed more than one trillion tokens over the past year, and it added real-time spend caps: when a project hits its limit, the agent pauses until someone clicks to resume. Google did not publish pricing or a general availability date for the Gemini agent. The financial services and lega

In recent weeks, Japanese companies have been hit by a string of cyberattacks, with AI tools lowering the barrier to large-scale hacking.

News from Bijie: Over the past few weeks, Japanese companies have suffered a string of cyberattacks, as AI tools have lowered the threshold for large-scale hacking. Data from cybersecurity company Trend Micro shows that the number of Japanese institutions reporting data breaches in September was unusually high, with 13 in a single day, setting a new high for the year. Reports have continued one after another, with victims including well-known companies such as SoftBank as well as Daiwa Securities, one of Japan's largest brokerages. Mihoko Matsubara, chief cybersecurity strategist at NTT, said: "Although the recent cyberattacks appear to be aimed at stealing personal information rather than causing business disruption, some attackers may be trying to probe the limits of Japan's active cyber defense system. Therefore, Japan is likely to begin experiencing more destructive cyberattacks." Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama urged financial institutions on Friday to re-examine their cybersecurity measures. Japan's Financial Services Agency has also called for relevant inspections, including assessing third-party risks and taking additional precautions when verifying user identities online.

After six consecutive weeks of declines, the stock price is turning around.

After six consecutive weeks of declines, is a turnaround in sight for the stock price? Goldman Sachs is betting on PepsiCo (PEP.US) "decade of growth," bullish on the resilience of the consumer leader amid inflationary headwinds. PepsiCo (PEP.US) is expected to reverse its six-week losing streak. Although Goldman Sachs lowered its target price expectation for this U.S. beverage, food, and snack consumer giant, it still maintained its most bullish "Buy" rating. Improvements in third-quarter sales and broad operating performance, as well as growth potential over the next decade, support the optimistic outlook; at the same time, rising costs, margin pressure, and continued significant challenges in execution in the beverage business are weighing on short-term earnings.

Yi Lihua (JackYi): Bitcoin's bull market trend remains unchanged, with short-term pullbacks still ongoing.

According to news from Bijie, on-chain analyst JackYi (Yi Lihua) said that the current market is in a bull trend, but the short-term pullback has not yet ended. He leans toward the possibility that Bitcoin's price may fall below 79,000, but insists on "watching for a pullback in a bull market without shorting," waiting for a suitable opportunity to buy the dip. He also mentioned that if it falls below $79,000, he will begin reducing positions, and if the daily close breaks below $78,000, he will exit entirely. A Wintermute report pointed out that the global digital asset bull market is still in its early stages. Whether Bitcoin can strengthen further in the future may depend more on drivers from traditional financial markets rather than narratives within the crypto market itself, with the U.S. midterm elections on November 3 being a key variable. In addition, the report also warned that the upward momentum of low-quality altcoins is nearing its end.
