Hackers issue commands in Chinese, allegedly using DeepSeek to breach over a hundred e-commerce websites

Since September 25, the system has launched successive attacks on e-commerce sites in the United States, Japan, Australia, and other countries, making over 1,200 attempts in total. The hackers used automated browsers to screen target websites and handed them over to the open-source AI framework Cairn; the AI can dispatch multiple agents simultaneously to find vulnerabilities and record clues. Researchers found that the executor of the attack tasks was named `claudecode_deepseek-v4.1-flash`, suggesting that the hackers invoked DeepSeek v4.1 Flash through Claude Code. The overall task success rate of the operation is estimated at about 10%, with a successful intrusion taking an average of less than 23 hours. Model invocation costs were about $5,000, meaning it cost only about $50 on average to breach a single website.
