Ripple expands Brevan Howard deal with prime brokerage services

Ripple Prime will provide prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to funds managed by the $35 billion alternative investment manager. Ripple Prime will provide multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to funds managed by Brevan Howard, a global investment manager with about $35 billion in assets. Under the expanded agreement, Brevan Howard will gain access to Ripple Prime’s services across traditional and digital asset markets, according to a Tuesday announcement. The deal builds on an existing relationship between the firms. Brevan Howard-affiliated funds participated in a $500 million investment in Ripple in 2025 that valued the company at $40 billion. “As digital and traditional markets become more interconnected, the need for institutional-quality digital asset infrastructure that enables a seamless experience for investors is only growing,” Brevan Howard chief operating officer Alan McGroarty said. The investment manager serves global clients including sovereign wealth funds, corporate and public pension plans, foundations and endowments. The agreement comes as Ripple expands its prime brokerage business. In August, Ripple Prime raised $275 million through a senior note offering to fund its expansion into prime brokerage, financing and multi-asset clearing. Ripple launched the business after acquiring prime broker Hidden Road for about $1.25 billion in 2025. Magazine: Too big to pause: Could an AI slowdown crash the economy?

Meta's Muse leak reveals a systemic industry gap

Coin World News reports that Meta's Muse project discovered multiple severe vulnerabilities before its launch, which could allow users to break out of isolated virtual machines and access Meta's production services and sensitive databases. This discovery prompted internal leadership to initiate a "service hardening push," but anonymous sources described the move as a rushed delivery of "half-finished protection." A 404 Media report pointed out that Meta experienced similar security vulnerabilities with Anthropic and OpenAI within the same quarter, revealing systemic problems across the industry. Meta's security researchers warned that the risk of connecting to the production environment is unacceptable. This incident has sparked policy discussions about the responsibility of AI agents, with the FTC chair clearly stating that developers must be held accountable for the behavior of their tools.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to invest nearly $5 billion in South Korea and Vietnam for semiconductor substrate production.

According to news from Bijie, Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to invest nearly 5 billion USD in South Korea and Vietnam by 2028 for semiconductor substrate production, further enhancing Vietnam's position in the production of key components for AI servers and high-performance computing. As an electronic components subsidiary under South Korea's Samsung Group, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced last week two FC-BGA (flip chip ball grid array) substrate investment plans. One investment amounts to 4.27 trillion won (about 3.2 billion USD) for the company's Sejong plant in South Korea, the largest investment the company has made to date for a single product. The other investment amounts to 2.51 trillion won (about 1.87 billion USD) for its Vietnamese subsidiary. The company announced in 2022 that it would test FC-BGA substrates in Thai Nguyen Province in northern Vietnam. The current facility expansion indicates that the trial production results met expectations and that it is ready to enter the stage of large-scale mass production.

Christine Smith: Crypto wins in Washington despite the failure of the Clarity Act

Coin World News: Kristin Smith, president of the Solana Policy Institute, said that although the Clarity Act failed to pass, crypto still won in Washington. She believes that rules finalized by federal regulators before the summer of 2028 will be difficult to reverse, while agency rules are easier to modify than laws. Smith noted that the crypto industry has already won the GENIUS Act and the U.S. stablecoin law, and has secured changes to the IRS broker rule. She pointed out that legislative battles provide regulators with political protection. The CFTC has opened public comment on rules for leveraged retail crypto trading, and the rulemaking process could take 18 to 24 months. Smith believes the chances of the Clarity Act being revived before the November midterm elections are low, but still possible. The obstacles she mentioned include the president's family's crypto business and banks that do not yet fully support the sector, issues that will not be resolved before the end of the year. She believes traditional finance and overseas companies will build based on the completed rules, making them harder to revoke.
