More →Google Wants Gemini to Be Your Next Coworker—Complete With Its Own Email Address
Google Cloud introduced a universal AI agent for the workplace on Thursday, one it says can take a goal, go off and do the work, and return with the finished result. CEO Thomas Kurian presented it at the company's Gemini at Work event, saying that "work now starts in the prompt window." The product, simply called the Gemini Agent, works inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Chat and Calendar, and also reaches into Microsoft 365 and Slack. Google says it keeps running in the cloud after you close your laptop, so a single task can stretch across hours or days. The most interesting feature is what Google calls coworker agents. A manager describes a role, such as events coordinator, and Gemini creates an agent with its own Workspace account: an email address, a calendar, Drive storage and a listing in the company directory. This is similar to what other agentic frameworks have explored. For example Grok popularized it with Grok Bot, OpenAI did the same with GPT dots, and Hermes introduced its bots feature offering the same functionality. The new agent connects to Salesforce, ServiceNow, Jira, Snowflake, BigQuery and any server that speaks Model Context Protocol, an open standard that works like a universal plug between AI and software. It also runs on more than Google's own models: Gemini currently orchestrates across Gemini and Claude models from Anthropic, routing each job to the one Google considers the best fit for quality and cost. Letting software act on its own raises obvious safety questions, and Google's answer is to treat each agent like an employee. Every agent gets a cryptographically attested identity, a digital ID verified through cryptography, and every action lands in an audit trail attributed to the agent rather than a person. All agents run inside an Agent Sandbox, a walled-off environment meant to keep software away from the rest of a system, and all their traffic passes through Agent Gateway, which Google describes as an "AI network firewall." Containment has failed before: in July, researchers at Accomplish AI reported that the local mode of Claude Cowork could escape its Linux virtual machine on Macs and reach files on the host computer. Cost is the other worry, since agents burn through tokens, the chunks of text that AI models read and write and that customers are billed for. Google says nearly 500 of its customers each processed more than one trillion tokens over the past year, and it added real-time spend caps: when a project hits its limit, the agent pauses until someone clicks to resume. Google did not publish pricing or a general availability date for the Gemini agent. The financial services and lega

Nomura released a research report stating that Samsung Electronics announced its preliminary results for the third quarter.
According to a report from Bijie.com, Nomura stated in a research report that Samsung Electronics announced its preliminary third-quarter results, with revenue of 195 trillion won, up 127% year-on-year; operating profit of 107 trillion won, up 783% year-on-year, broadly in line with the bank's expectations. The bank noted that operating profit was below its original estimate of 114 trillion won, mainly due to the sharp rise in the Korean won against the US dollar; it estimated that the company's semiconductor business operating profit was about 108 trillion won (after accounting for the negative foreign exchange impact of about 9 trillion won from the roughly 7% appreciation of the Korean won), and estimated that commodity DRAM and NAND prices both rose about 15% quarter-on-quarter, while the rapid ramp-up of HBM4, with a premium of more than 50% over HBM3E, is expected to drive blended DRAM average selling prices up about 16% quarter-on-quarter. Revenue and underlying profitability in the foundry business continued to improve, but due to bonus-related expenses, the operating loss is estimated to have remained roughly flat quarter-on-quarter at about 2 trillion won. The bank maintained its "Buy" rating and target price of 670,000 won for Samsung Electronics, and expects further room for memory price increases.
UBS published a research report, reiterating its "Buy" rating on KE Holdings.
UBS released a research report reiterating its "Buy" rating on KE Holdings and raising its target price by 5% from HK$66 to HK$69.4, equivalent to 17 times the forecasted price-to-earnings ratio for 2027. The bank noted that KE Holdings has strengthened agent productivity, platform capabilities, and cost efficiency, as reflected in its second-quarter performance. As mainland property prices stabilize and changes to pre-sale policies benefit second-hand home transactions, investors are expected to focus more on KE Holdings' potential excess returns rather than solely on property market transaction volume. The third-quarter results to be announced in mid-November could serve as a catalyst. Based on higher agent productivity (contribution margin) and higher GTV from second-hand home transactions, the bank raised its earnings forecasts for KE Holdings for 2026, 2027, and 2028 by 4%, 13%, and 28%, respectively.
Société Générale's interest rate strategists pointed out in a report
Société Générale's rates strategists noted in a report that the coexistence of elevated inflation and weak economic growth makes allocating inflation-linked bonds in fixed-income portfolios more attractive. The strategists said: "Although headline inflation has recently eased somewhat, renewed conflict in the Middle East has reintroduced inflation risks." They expect the indirect effects of rising energy costs to lag somewhat and gradually transmit across various sectors of the economy.
